Amazon’s Whole Foods Purchase & Hunt for New Headquarters

Whole Foods Market is no longer the only supermarket with a wide selection of healthy,
organic food and Amazon recognized that, in order to continue bringing in customers, prices
would have to drop. Amazon’s economic takeover certainly has some precarious consequences.
The stocks of major supermarkets, retailers, and meal services all dropped after Amazon
announced its purchase of Whole Foods.

Amazon is also seeking to establish a new headquarters in effort to grow its workforce.
The company is willing to invest up to five billion dollars into the project. Cities across
North America are leaping at the opportunity to house a new base for Amazon. However,
Amazon does have some requirements about the new location. The model location would be
a large city (at least one million residents), so nowhere in Massachusetts is likely to be
considered. City officials can submit proposals to Amazon up until October 19th.
